The Yang lab studies the molecular mechanisms underlying hereditary retinal degeneration and hearing loss. The lab is also striving to develop treatments for these diseases. We are located on the 4th floor of the Moran Eye Center on the campus of the University of Utah School of Medicine. The following is our address:

We are delighted to welcome Haoran Yu, our new graduate student, to the team! We wish him an exciting and successful journey as he embarks on his PhD thesis research.
Dr. Anna Clark recently published a paper revealing that lipid imbalance is a novel pathogenic mechanism underlying inherited retinal degeneration (JCI Insight, 2024;9:e162621).
Congratulations to Dr. Pranav Mathur and Dr. Ali Sharif, our former graduate students, on their success in obtaining a PhD degree and entering the next phase of their careers!
Dr. Junhuang Zou won 2014 Emerging Research Grant from the Hearing Health Foundation and 2013 Research Award from the National Organization for Hearing Research Foundation.
Dr. Dongmei Yu won 2017 Career-Starter Research Grant from the Knights Templar Eye Foundation.
The Yang Laboratory was awarded an R01supplement to purchase a Leica SP8 lightning confocal microscope in 2019.
Dr. Jun Yang was awarded an NIH R01 grant studying Usher syndrome disease mechanism in 2023.
